🔹 1. Introduction
The Commodity Master module is used to define and manage commodity types used in shipping and logistics operations. This includes hazardous, general, scrap, and perishable goods, helping ensure proper documentation and regulatory compliance.

🖥️ 2. System Requirements

Browser Compatibility:
• Google Chrome v90 or later
• Mozilla Firefox v85 or later

User Roles:
• Admin
• Logistics Coordinator
• Safety Officer

🔐 3. Logging In

  1. Open the application and log in with your credentials.

  2. Navigate to Commodity Master under the Master Setup module in the left pane.

  3. Alternatively, type Commodity Master into the search bar at the top right of the screen.

⚙️ 4. Main Features and Functions

🆕 4.1 Creating a New Commodity
To create a new commodity entry:

  1. Click the Create New button on the top right.

  2. Fill in the following fields:
      • Commodity UN Code – Enter the standard UN code.
      • Commodity Name – Full name of the commodity.
      • HS Code – Valid Harmonized System code.
      • Dangerous Flag – Select Yes or No.
      • Commodity Clause – Choose from General, Hazardous, Scrap, etc.
      • DG Clause – Select appropriate clause (e.g., 1.1, 1.2, etc.).
      • Commodity Type – Choose from General, Hazardous, Scrap, Perishable.
      • UN Number – Optional field for DG classification.
      • Flash Point – Temperature at which substance may ignite.
      • Temperature Unit – Select from dropdown (e.g., °C, °F).
      • Remarks – Notes or special instructions.

  3. Click Submit to save the record.

  4. Use the Download button to export existing commodity data.

  5. Use the Upload button to bulk import commodities using the prescribed template.


✏️ 4.2 Editing an Existing Commodity

  1. Locate the commodity entry from the list.

  2. Click the Edit icon beside it.

  3. Update necessary fields (e.g., clause, flash point, type).

  4. Click Save to apply changes.

🛠️ 5. Troubleshooting Common Issues

IssueSolution
Duplicate UN Code       Ensure each UN code is unique across the database.
Upload Fails       Validate your Excel template and check for mandatory fields.
Missing Temperature Unit      Select a valid unit from the dropdown before submitting.
Incorrect DG Clause Format      Refer to predefined values (e.g., 1.1, 1.2, etc.) for DG clause.

Q: Can I create commodities without UN or DG data?
A: Yes. For non-hazardous commodities, those fields can be left blank.

Q: Is Flash Point mandatory?
A: No, but it is recommended for hazardous goods.

Q: Can the same commodity be reused under different clauses?
A: You may create a new entry with a different clause if required by regulations.

Q: Can I upload commodities in bulk?
A: Yes, use the Upload option with the proper format.
